Monza delivered another dramatic Sunday, with the Temple of Speed bringing plenty of action throughout the 53-lap Italian Grand Prix. On track, home race hero Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes took a spectacular victory from 19th on the grid, ahead of team mate George Russell and Max Verstappen of Red Bull, whilst Charles Leclerc’s race came to an early end on Lap 2 after the Ferrari driver crashed at the exit of the Parabolica as he fought McLaren’s Oscar Piastri for position, bringing out the red flags....

Kimi Antonelli made arguably the biggest statement of his short F1 career to date at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza on Sunday, superbly rising from the back of the grid to P1 for an emotional first home win in the top echelon. Laurent Mekies believes Red Bull made a “step in the right direction” during last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix, as Max Verstappen claimed another podium. The Dutchman finished best of the rest in Sunday’s 53-lap race behind the Mercedes machines of race winner Kimi Antonelli and George Russell, having battled with the duo and even briefly leading. Red Bull expected to struggle against Mercedes-powered cars along Monza’s straights, with Team Principal Mekies pleased that Verstappen was able to beat the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri....

Red Bull will continue to field Liam Lawson alongside Max Verstappen at this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid, with Isack Hadjar still recovering from a wrist injury. Lawson initially stepped in for Hadjar at Zandvoort, and remained in his place at Monza, while Yuki Tsunoda returned to take over the New Zealander’s Racing Bulls seat. On Monday, Red Bull announced that Hadjar - who injured his wrist while training over the summer break - will remain on the sidelines for F1’s first visit to the new Madring track....

Sebastian Vettel admits that getting behind the wheel of his idol and friend Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari F2002 ahead of last weekend’s Italian Grand Prix was “a very emotional moment”. This year marks 30 years since Schumacher joined the Scuderia, with the German taking victory in the 1996 Italian GP as he embarked on an 11-year spell with Ferrari which yielded five drivers' and six teams' titles. After returning to Formula 1 following semi-retirement, Schumacher retired from the sport in 2012 after three years with Mercedes....

Arvid Lindblad described his and stand-in team mate Yuki Tsunoda’s double points finish at the Italian Grand Prix as “damage limitation” for Racing Bulls after Alpine’s eye-catching Qualifying display. Racing Bulls and Alpine are both pushing to claim fifth in the Teams' Championship and earn the ‘best of the rest’ title this season - behind front-runners Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull. Alpine looked set to make major moves at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza when Pierre Gasly charged his way to a shock pole position, with Lindblad the lead Racing Bulls at the tail-end of the top 10 and Tsunoda falling at the Q1 hurdle....

Lining up 19th on the grid of his home Italian Grand Prix, Kimi Antonelli must have been cursing the Mercedes algorithms. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff said it was the algorithm that dictated Antonelli take a back-of-grid engine penalty at his home race because the computers “don’t take [drivers'] nationality into consideration”. Those same systems told him he had no chance of winning the race. A top-five finish was his likely result, and even after making his monumental comeback to lead the race on Lap 18, his tyre strategy should have limited him to second place at best....

Mercedes Kimi Antonelli became the first Italian to win at Monza since 1966, which considering he started from 19th on the grid was an incredible result and arguably his best victory to date. He had an electric first lap, and found himself 12th when the red flags came out. Another brilliant first lap at the second start saw him eighth, and from there he quickly climbed up to run second behind his team mate....

Usually a Formula 1 driver who starts from pole position and tumbles down to seventh won’t be too happy with such an outcome, but that wasn’t the case for Pierre Gasly in Monza. As much as Gasly dared to dream that circumstances might allow him at least make it to the podium, the Frenchman and his Alpine team knew that the numbers didn’t add up. The A526 was superb over one lap on Saturday....
