One of the hottest topics during every Formula 1 season is that of drivers' futures, with some close to their contract expiry date, some signed up for the short-term and others boasting longer deals. So, who will be driving where in 2027 and beyond as things stand? McLaren Lando Norris: 2030 Norris is contesting his eighth season in F1, and at McLaren specifically, with both the driver and team staying loyal to each other....

James Vowles believes that Carlos Sainz’s “unique” approach to racing has made him a valuable asset at Williams, with the team principal identifying his enduring competitive spirit as one of his strengths. The Spaniard took Williams back to the podium last season, but the team suffered a significant downturn in 2026, transforming from ‘best of the rest’ to scrapping towards the back of the field. While Sainz has been vocal about their issues, which included delayed development and an overweight car, he nevertheless committed to Williams with a multi-year deal to demonstrate his confidence in the team’s potential....

Last weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix had an air of finality to it, as the world of Formula 1 arrived knowing that, at least for the foreseeable future, Grand Prix cars will not return to the seaside circuit. That said, triumphant returns were still the story of the weekend, in the shape of Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda. Both drivers were being given an opportunity to return to their previous squads for one last - for now - hurrah....

Formula 2 championship leader and Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov has taken part in his first F1 test for Racing Bulls at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari - better known to many as Imola - in Italy. Tsolov completed 690km as part of a Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) programme, a milestone moment for the 19-year-old as he continues his development with the Red Bull Junior Programme. “First TPC day in a Formula 1 car done, and I’m super happy with how today went,” Tsolov said after the experience....

For Formula 1 drivers, retirement does not necessarily mean leaving the sport behind. Plenty swap the cockpit for the commentary box, while others become team bosses, ambassadors or driver managers - keeping one foot firmly planted in the paddock. But for some, life away from F1 has taken a rather different turn. Across the decades, former drivers have traded racing cars for everything from fishing trawlers and farms to DJ decks and even political office....

There were plenty of talking points to emerge from the final Dutch Grand Prix, but a key one involved the return of Yuki Tsunoda and his determined drive at the wheel of the Racing Bulls machine. Having lost his seat at Red Bull following a tricky 2025 season, Tsunoda had been on the sidelines as a test and reserve driver - but the Japanese racer took the opportunity to show what he could do when standing in for Liam Lawson, who in turn had been called up to substitute for an injured Isack Hadjar at the main team....

Franco Colapinto will continue to race in Formula 1 with Alpine next season after the Enstone-based squad announced he will partner Pierre Gasly in an unchanged line-up. The Argentine driver joined Alpine as a reserve for 2025 before stepping into the race seat from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix as a replacement for Jack Doohan. He was retained for this season and has since scored 19 points across six Grands Prix so far this season, working with Gasly to help the team to P6 in the Teams' Championship....

Ayao Komatsu has declared that Haas aren’t “in any rush” to settle on their future driver line-up, with the Team Principal eager to concentrate more on supporting Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon in performing at their best. It’s been a frustrating season for Haas as their strong start to the year, which featured Bearman’s P5 finish at the Chinese Grand Prix, quickly faltered, leaving the team to tumble down the order as their midfield rivals out-developed them....

Having upped his game in 2026, Franco Colapinto has been rewarded with a contract extension that will keep him at Alpine next season alongside Pierre Gasly. The Argentine arrived at Alpine as reserve in 2025 off the back of a strong debut with Williams, where he had completed the final nine races of 2024 as a replacement for American Logan Sargeant. He got his shot in a race seat a few months later when he was parachuted in to replace Jack Doohan early in the campaign - and then got the nod full-time for this season, fending off a threat from reserve Paul Aron....

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff revealed in Zandvoort that Kimi Antonelli would be taking a grid penalty for the next round of the championship in Monza as a result of a planned engine change. The Italian Grand Prix is Antonelli’s home race, but Mercedes believe it is the right decision to take the penalty there, rather than at a later round of the season, to avoid further technical problems such as the one that forced him to retire in Barcelona....

Cadillac drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas believe there are lessons to be taken from last weekend’s Dutch Grand Prix, with the former stating “the pace was very strong” despite failing to score any points. The American team continue to face an uphill battle during their maiden season in Formula 1, with last weekend’s race at Zandvoort the latest challenge to overcome. The team have yet to register a point this season and fell further behind nearest rivals Aston Martin in the teams' standings after Fernando Alonso claimed two points with P9....

The Dutch Grand Prix weekend marked one year since Oscar Piastri last won a race for McLaren, his championship fight tailing away towards the end of 2025 before this season has thrown up a new set of challenges for the Australian. He finished sixth in Zandvoort, a race won by team mate Lando Norris who now has two Grand Prix victories and one Sprint win this season, while Piastri has totalled just the two podiums....

Max Verstappen suffered a spectacular exit from the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend after crashing out at high-speed on the final corner. The Dutchman walked away unharmed after his off, but it was a disappointing final home race for the four-time World Champion - who has won at the venue on three previous occasions - and the Orange Army at Zandvoort. Verstappen is certainly not the first driver to suffer home heartache though, and F1....
