Alpine have issued a statement speaking out against the “hate and abuse” posted online following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, in which their driver Franco Colapinto triggered a multi-car incident. Colapinto locked up and went too deep at Turn 1 during the first Safety Car restart at the Baku City Circuit, taking out both Alpine team mate Pierre Gasly and the McLaren of Lando Norris. The Argentinian was subsequently given a 10-second time penalty by the stewards, who converted it into a five-place grid drop for the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, given that he did not finish the race....

Laurent Mekies has praised Isack Hadjar’s performance in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix as “outstanding”, after the Red Bull driver returned from a wrist injury to claim a podium. Hadjar made his first appearance since sustaining the injury during the summer break, and despite a steady start during practice in Baku to build up confidence, took an impressive fourth in Qualifying. It also included starting ahead of Red Bull team mate Max Verstappen, and although he let the charging Dutchman through in the opening laps, Hadjar stayed with the four-time World Champion, eventually moving up to third after Oscar Piastri made a mistake at Turn 1 in the closing stages....

For the third time this year after China and Canada, McLaren failed to score a point in Azerbaijan as they endured a painful afternoon. The huge frustration was that Oscar Piastri had enjoyed his best showing thus far of a troubled 2026 season, and the Australian looked set to log a podium finish, having run second for much of the race. However, a mistake in the closing laps saw him head down the Turn 1 escape road, and given that the field had been bunched up by the Safety Car, he tumbled out of the top 10 before he could resume....
